Here's how an ozone machine works to get rid of foul odors inside a car:

  • Ozone Generation: The ozone machine, often referred to as an ozone generator, uses a high-voltage corona discharge or ultraviolet light to convert regular oxygen molecules (O2) into ozone (O3). Ozone is a highly unstable gas and quickly reacts with other substances in its environment.

  • Diffusion of Ozone: The ozone generator releases the ozone gas into the car's interior through a controlled and well-distributed process. The machine can be set up inside the car or placed just outside with hoses directing the ozone into the vehicle's cabin.

  • Chemical Reaction: Once inside the car, the ozone molecules come into contact with foul-smelling substances such as smoke, pet odors, food smells, mold, mildew, or bacteria. Ozone molecules readily react with these odor-causing compounds and microorganisms.

  • Odor Neutralization: The chemical reaction between ozone and the foul-smelling substances breaks down the molecular structure of the odor compounds. As a result, the foul odors are neutralized and converted into non-odorous substances.

  • Air Circulation: To ensure thorough coverage and effectiveness, the ozone machine often runs for a specific period, ranging from several minutes to a few hours, depending on the severity of the odors and the size of the vehicle's interior. During this time, the ozone circulates throughout the car's cabin, reaching every nook and cranny, including the air conditioning system, vents, and upholstery.

  • Ozone Decomposition: Once the ozone treatment is completed, the ozone gas begins to decompose and revert to regular oxygen molecules (O2) naturally. Ventilation is crucial at this stage to allow fresh air to enter the car, ensuring any residual ozone dissipates.

Interior car detailing involves a comprehensive process to thoroughly clean and revitalize the inside of the vehicle. Here's a breakdown of the steps involved:

Vacuum Carpets & Seats: The detailing process starts with a thorough vacuuming of the carpets and seats. This step removes loose dirt, debris, crumbs, and pet hair from the surfaces.

Mats Vacuumed & Steam Cleaned: The floor mats are removed, vacuumed, and then subjected to steam cleaning. Steam effectively lifts and removes stubborn stains and grime from the mats, leaving them fresh and revitalized.

Shampooing Of All Carpets & Fabrics: Using specialized carpet and fabric cleaners, the carpets and upholstery are shampooed to deep-clean and lift any embedded dirt or stains. This step helps eliminate odors and rejuvenates the interior's appearance.

Steam Cleaning/Extracting Of Seats: For fabric seats and all carpet, steam cleaning or hot water extraction is employed to clean and refresh the material thoroughly. This process sanitizes the carpets or fabrics and removes deep-seated dirt and contaminants. For leather seats, a gentle cleaning solution is used to avoid damaging the material.

Clean Door & Trunk Jambs: Detailers pay attention to the often-overlooked door and trunk jambs. These areas are cleaned to remove dirt and grime, giving the interior a more polished look.

All Interior Vinyl, Plastic, & Leather Cleaned and Conditioned: Interior surfaces such as vinyl, plastic, and leather are cleaned using appropriate products that lift dirt and grime without causing any damage. Additionally, a conditioner is applied to the leather to nourish and protect it from cracking and fading.

All Interior Glass Cleaned: The interior glass surfaces, including windows and mirrors, are cleaned using streak-free glass cleaners. This step ensures maximum visibility for the driver and passengers.

**It is important to note that ozone treatments should only be carried out in unoccupied vehicles, as ozone exposure can be harmful to humans and pets. After the treatment, it is advisable to air out the car for a while to remove any lingering ozone and ensure a safe environment for occupants.

Ozone treatment is an effective and eco-friendly method for eliminating stubborn odors that may be challenging to remove through conventional cleaning methods. It is commonly used in professional car detailing services and can significantly improve the overall air quality and freshness of a car's interior.
